adding publish/subscribe support to GeoServer2.0

Hi,

I have just downloaded GeoServer 2.0 and would like to add some pub/sub
support.  Has anyone tackled this yet?  Any suggestions?  My project is
in its preliminary stages and I'd like to use GeoServer rather than
building a WFS from scratch.

What kind of pub/sub support?  That's a pretty generic term, as far as I
know.  How are you imagining this working?  For what kind of information
and operations?
