april 2012 - some ideas for dvp of Texmacs

hi everyone

for those who weren't in Portugal

i am Vincent

i have written my drafts here

http://www.texmacs.org/tmweb/documents/vinzdrafts/main.fr.html

i am sorry most pages are in french

the aim is : promoting texmacs in french high schools in sept/oct 2012, or, if too early, in january 2013

i need help on theses points (that are exposed in my drafts)

- i need some beautiful texmacs docuemnts to put on a gallery on internet, to give people an idea of what can be done with texmacs. for the moment, only Alvaro has sent me something.

- i need some documents in a texmacs version vs a latex version to show people how it is difficult to obtain the same results with latex

- if anyone knows one teacher or searcher in an other country as France, that can eventually let us build an (extra)european project (see "international"). it is not easy, but contacts are necessary. So if you know such a person.

- if anyone of you have good knowledge about java could you have a look at the page called "TeXmacs et GeoGebra"

- could you have a look on the last 3 links ? (texmacs en ligne - texmacs package - texmacs on usb key)

i think it could be nice to have the new name of TeXmacs, in order to have time to prepare the logo and everything before sept/oct (if you agree with this date). I you have any proposition..

Vincent

I hope this helps. There's a few Calculus assignments I wrote up with TeXmacs, and some re-typeset midterm exams I created using the folding features, so that folded one way it's the exam, and folded the other way it's the answer key.

hi Karl
thank you very much
i had a look to all your files

some questions :
- did you get the 3d pictures with mathematica ? if yes did you use the plugin of Bertrand or did you just save aspicture with mathematica and insert it in texmacs ?
- i must take time to study more closer your work wth axiom
- what does the code starting with <<LRM \ -- 'L, 'R, or 'M>> correspond to ? what language is it ?

and still some basic questions :
- i dont manage to fold/unfold the midexams how do you do this ?
- how do you get the vertical space and the noindentation ?

If you activate the presentation tool (in French : menu outils -> presentation tool)
you obtain a new menu named "dynamic" that allows folding and unfolding.

WRT the "code starting with <<LRM..." question, I don't know what document you are referring to. Can you tell me what document and what page, and I'll take a look.

Hmmm... I just noticed that one of the assignments is incomplete; I never finished answering all the questions!

The 3d pictures are probably made with either Mathmatica or Maple, and are saved as images in the same directory as the document, though obviously I embedded them rather than linking to them. I recommend always embedding, since several other assignments no longer display the graphs that I'm certain were there when I handed them in.

ok thanks Julien

it works
in fact there must be a error in the traduction
in the "dynamic" menu, there is "plier" in french and "unfold" in english
i made "look in project" in Xcode but no match of "plier" was founded
i did it with TeXfinder so i founded the file TeXmacs/langs/natural/dic/english-french.scm
i founded that logically "unfold" was not translated
i have made my first commit with the "unfold" tranlated into "dÈplier" because i noticed that the ohter é are coded È
i could not verify because i dont always manage to build, sometimes it vanishes into a process without end
i hope the commit worked

I use my personal translations that I put in a ~/.TeXmacs/langs/natural/dic/english-french.scm file
I can share it with you :

but I don't like it because I consider that the same english word in different menus don't necessarily share
a common best translation. I don't know how to make translations differ.
Is it possible ?

Could you merge your translations with the default ones and send them to
me to commit to the main repository?

I'm afraid it currently isn't, no. I think there was some non-conclusive
discussion on this topic in Albufeira, but that was it. All that is
needed is going for some standard and implementing it in scheme and the
c++ core, but one must be chosen, the details be discussed and then
someone has to actually go and implement it. ;)

Best,

OK, I'll discuss translations with Herr El Douwen and we'll send you what we come up with.
Or he'll commit directly.
Take care
Julien
