audio distortion while ripping

Have internet radio playing in background (or any audio app in background) while ripping CD's, the audio is severly distorted.  Am I missing a setting or just not enough PC power? 1gig RAM.  2.4ghz processeor.  Digi soundcard.  Any help, thanks.  Ed O.

It's best to stop as many other processes as possible when using EAC, no matter what your computer is.
