battery won’t loadHi,
I have a X61s, now about 2 years old. Used it a lot, carried it around nearly every second day. Never had any problems with the battery. Now I get: [arno@tiger]$ cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info present: yes design capacity: 74880 mWh ⇐ last full capacity: 52420 mWh ⇐ battery technology: rechargeable design voltage: 14400 mV design capacity warning: 2621 mWh design capacity low: 200 mWh capacity granularity 1: 1 mWh capacity granularity 2: 1 mWh model number: 93P5030 serial number: 6195 battery type: LION OEM info: SONY Ok, maybe the battery is bad now and will hold only 52Wh. But actually, it does not: [arno@tiger]$ cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state present: yes capacity state: ok charging state: charged present rate: 0 mW remaining capacity: 1800 mWh ⇐ present voltage: 16195 mV The machine is plugged in, but the remaining capacity stays at 1800 mWh. This happened just a few days ago, since then the remaining capacity changed from like 1650 mWh to 1800 mWh. So my question: what can I do? Is the battery useless? Can I recover it anyhow? Could this be a software issue or is it hardware? cheers Arno |

Unfortunately mine was denied for being more than one year out of warranty. You got denied a replacement battery in a public-safety-related recall because it was old and out-of-warranty? Are you sure it was not because your batterie's serial number indicated that it was not in one of the bad manufacturing runs? Or was this a different recall, not related to batteries catching fire and blowing up? -- "One disk to rule them all, One disk to find them. One disk to bring them all and in the darkness grind them. Re: [ltp] Re: [ltp] battery won’t loadThe battery in my t61p has also starting acting up. It does not
charge, and the machine has to run on AC power. I'm not so sure about it, but with tp_smapi you can see the voltage of each group of cells in the battery: cat /sys/devices/platform/smapi/BAT0/group?_voltage -- damjan | дамјан This is my jabber ID --> damjan@... -- not my mail address, it's a Jabber ID --^ :) -- The linux-thinkpad mailing list home page is at: http://mailman.linux-thinkpad.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-thinkpad |
