Hello. OpenSuSE 11.1 playback sound as if for every second of sound, the
later 1/2 second sound is played back twice. It sounds seriously broken
and takes one third more time to finish the playback. This happens to
every mp3 audio file I have, including those plays fine on other
computers. I tried to use totem and vlc, both playback exactly the same
broken sound. I also tried switching audio output device between
pulseaudio, alsa and oss with no difference between them.

Where do you suggest me to further look at to track down the problem?
Thanks for hints.

I do tried to switching audio output device between pulseaudio, alsa and
oss but did not restart vlc before testing, now I realized I should
close vlc player and re-start it to test.

It turns out this issue is due to alsa. If I select PulseAudio or ALSA
the sound is broken. If I select oss, it is okay (but of course I can
only run one player at a time)
