bugs & press(And please don't send her any emails of "it's already fixed if she'd just do this" or "it won't be fixed because ..." or ...) Stormy From Facebook: Carla Schroder Yet one more reason Gnome is annoying and broken: Gedit and Gnumeric will not save to network shares. Re: bugs & pressI'd be surprised that this is the case. Gedit and Gnumeric both use
gio/gvfs at least in their latest releases. I'd be very surprised if that is broken because in that case almost no GNOME app would be able to save to a network share So maybe best to ask her which version she is running of GNOME and which distro Jaap On Tue, Oct 13, 2009 at 19:25, Stormy Peters <stormy@...> wrote: > Carla Schroder is a press person who's been pretty friendly towards us. Re: bugs & pressStormy,
I think your mighty powers have solved somehow it already. :-) I just mounted a remote server with sshfs and both gedit and gnumeric can load and save files. I'm running the beta Karmic Koala so GNOME 2.28 Jaap On Wed, Oct 14, 2009 at 21:12, Stormy Peters <stormy@...> wrote: > She says: > >> Carla Schroder also commented on her status: >> >> "Hi Stormy, the problem apps are Gedit and Gnumeric. Re: bugs & pressI understand she's using sshfs instead of sftp with nautilus?
iirc, sshfs is just a hack to mount sftp somewhere in your tree. nautilus' sftp:// works the same and is -i guess- much easier to setup. I would advise her to try to use nautilus connect to server (File -> connect to server -> SSH).
