c3p0 support oracle11g?

I use oracle11g plus windows server2008, I met a problem with c3p0,when I first connect oracle11g,c3p0 always wait to connect oracle11g and never succeed,then I close c3p0 and connect oracle11g for the second time with c3p0,it always can connect oracle11g successful. What reason result the first time failure? I want to know if I can get error information after the first connect failure,such as log file? I find c3p0 is last update in May 2007,I want to know if c3p0 can support oracle11g well? I configure c3p0 in Hibernate. Is there a better example for c3p0 in Hibernate with oracle11g?
