hi, i saw similar error messages for other phones, bitpim versions - this is reproducible error, Bitpim found my phone (LG8500), reads all info fine, except Contacts - read it fine before, and just failed (i did not update LG hardware), here is the error (exactly the same error happened with prev Bitpim version, i thought this beta will fix it - no luck; more over, same error happened on different pc/laptop with my phone. i also removed custom groups from the phone, although i did not have problem with this in the past):

any ideas?

thanks

Absolutely. In addition, I loaded the LG application that let's the
phone sync with Outlook and that is working just fine. All other
features of BitPim seem to work just fine with phone. Had the drivers
not been loaded, nothing would have worked.

Does the LG Sync plugin transfer the "street, city, state, zip,
country" fields? Thanks.

Nothing is loaded. It seems to be loading all of it as I watch the
progress at the bottom, but when it gets near the end of the process, it
crashes, and none of the data is available in BitPim.

It has taken a while but I have connected my LG VX1100 with BitPim.  I can upload call details from my phone.  When I try to download ringtones to the phone I hit send phone data and the phone shuts down and restarts but nothing gets downloaded.
I would appreciate help.
Thanks.
Matt

Re: can not read LG8550 Contacts - resolved with Datapilot

thanks to everybody, i finally resolved the issue. it looks like it was phone itself - somehow changed address book.

so, shortly speaking, i downloaded datapilot

(not from their site, cos you need license, but from http://jetdl.com/download/rapidshare:Susteen+Datapilot+V5+/2isj, if you have problems with install/running with registry keys, for install solution - Knowledgebase 236427 on Microsoft.com : Error 1402. Could not Open Key. ... - open that reg key and add everyone with full permissions, i had such two keys.
when running, it complained about admin rights, but that fix is at the datapilot site - in registry [run/regedit]Go to My Computer - HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT - .kkv (note there is a ´dot´ in front of kkv) - add full permissions for administrator), license key is inside archive.)

added/modified one entry, updated my phone with it.
after that bitpim started to read phone book fine, run few tests - data pilot can changes made by bitpim.
