I am reading two date/time values from an XML document. Given any day how can I calculate how many hours are available between the hours of 08.00 and 17.30 so I can see how many hours have been utilised on a particular day?
Thanks for your help.
>Hi Neil,
>
> I have tomcat5 up and running happily, and coldfusion deployed
>within it. I can browse to localhost:8080/cfusion/whatever.cfm and all
>works nicely.
>
> All I want to do now, is be able to put my cfm files in my apache
>webroot, and have apache pass off the calls to tomcat invisibly. IE if
>I have an app at /home/toby/work/myapp I can browse to
>localhost/myapp/index.cfm
>
>make sense? I tried a couple of semi-documented ways of doing it but
>keep failing miserably.

You could use Apache as your web server but you may also use tomcat via port
> otherwise) not give this error - it is database specific not
> ColdFusion.

That's where I disagree with you - I can take this exact same code, run
it under CF5 or CF 6.1 against the same SQL Server 2000 database and it
works. Do it under CFMX 7, and I get this error. In my opinion, it is
JDBC Driver related. I'm using CFMX 7 on a CentOS 4.1 linux server, and
I've always run my CF installs on different linux distros. I'm hoping
to find a way to make JDBC ingore this and keep on working with the query.
> Subject: [cfaussie] Data Truncated Error
>
> Prior to CFMX 7, if I was attempting to put some data into field in my
> database that was 7 characters long for example, while my data was 8
> characters, it would just truncate it and keep running the rest of the
> query. Since CFMX 7, I get an error which kills the query:
>
> [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]String or binary data
> would be truncated.
>
> This is a problem for me because I have a massive application that's
> grown over the years, and in the past it wasn't a definite problem to
> have some data which is longer than the database field. While I realize
> I should go back and resize many of the input fields to accept a maximum
> length, I don't have time to do that at this point.
>
> Is there a way to turn off this warning and have it ignored? I didn't
> find anything relevant in the CF Administrator, so I'm hoping there is a
> way to turn it off in the JDBC driver.

>
>Thanks all, we are in a situation where we deal with a lot of users
>uploading documents, our clients then have to use them.
>
>For some reason the Word Plugin in IE doesnt just straight download
>the data, it breaks it up into 30kb packets and then has big time lag
>between them (like 600ms from the US). This is way too slow,
>particularly when you think that a word doc has the entire history of
>the doc inside it (unwanted and unused info) and averages 1.5Mb on our
>systems.
>
>If you have to go through this everytime for 40 users, you are gonna
>get pissed.
>
>To top it all off it then hangs when closing the browser window.
>
>Now - we have thought about forcing the download - in pronciple this
>would be ok but would require retraining. And its not the best User
>experience, so we figure that if we can convert the doc to HTML then
>we alleviate the issue (and the unwanted data), if they need to see
>the original then they can d/l right?
>

Having done a fair bit of research on this I can recommend Davisor
Offisor (outside of the silly name). It's good in that it also strips
out any binary images etc and turns them into jpegs so you can use them
on the web.

It is a commercial Java based app so you need to have a base

Dear friend,

I want to solicit with you for assistance in regards to a financial
transaction. I am the son of one of the foremost and rich black farmers in
Zimbabwe that was murdered for land dispute in my country. Before the death
of my father, he had given me the certificate of deposite he used to deposit
a large sum of money in one of the private security companies in Europe, as
family valuables, when he realized the looming dangers in Zimbabwe.
This amountwas meant for the purchase of new machineries and chemicals for
the farms and also for the establishment of new farms in Swaziland. This land
dispute started when President Robert Mugabe introduced a new land
reform, which was particularly targeted at the rich white farmers and a few
black farmers (my father included). This resulted in the gruesome killing of
rich farmers (mainly whites) and the unlawful possession of their properties
by Mugabe's war veterans, under the disguise of fighting for the interest
of the country. It is against this background that I fled the country with
my family,to the United Kingdom where we are currently seeking asylum.I have
been adviced to seek foreign assistance, as the United Kingdom law prohibits
asylum seekers from operating bank accounts or involve in financial
transaction of any kind, hence this letter to you. All I need is your
trustworthiness to be able to entrust the above said amount and help me
with investment opportunities. My family's survival depends on this money
as we have virtually lost all our other assets.
There are two options, firstly, you can choose to accept a negotiable
percentage of the total amount for your assistance or go into partnership
for the proper investment of the money in your country.
We shall discuss in detail the modalities involved when I hear from you.
I await your reply through my confidential email media, while I implore you
to maintain the absolute secrecy required to ensure a safe and hitch free
transaction.
I shall furnish you with more details on request.
Yours truly,
D.K.

We are having a problem with integrating a product we use for some AI
functions that is linked up by COM. We are trying to move to CF7 (read
- this works fine in 6.1) but there seems to be a problem and we cant
get around it.

Error:

An exception occurred when instantiating a Com object.
The cause of this exception was that:

We are having a problem with integrating a product we use for some AI
functions that is linked up by COM. We are trying to move to CF7 (read
- this works fine in 6.1) but there seems to be a problem and we cant
get around it.

Error:

An exception occurred when instantiating a Com object.
The cause of this exception was that:
occurred when instantiating a Com object..

Code:

Stack trace (partial):
java.lang.Exception: Invalid COM object

Any clues as to what I can do to try and track down what might be causing this?

Hi,

Your sample code doesn't produce a meaningful array, but I can see
what you're trying to do.

The simplest way would be to cfloop over the array looking at each
name element, e.g:

<cfloop from="1" to="#arrayLen(aBooks)#" index="iBook">
   <cfif aBooks[iBook].name EQ "DEF">
        <cfset bookDEF = iBook />
   </cfif>
</cfloop>

Or you could use one of CF's built in functions, look at structFind()
or structFindValue() as I believe these will work on arrays as well as
structs.

Deciding which to use may depend on performance, so I'd test both
techniques if the array is large.
