compile a new protocol

hi everybody
i want to create a new protocol i saw the example ping in ns tutorial, i want to do the same thing but i don't know how to add ping.o to the makefile cause when i searched it in the ns-2.33 folder i found a lot of file named Makefile , i don't know where can i add  my_ping.o
somebody help me plz
