compile problem

Hey all,

I'm having some trouble compiling sleuthkit on Leopard (10.5.8). The
configure script appears to work fine, but 'make' exits with

Making all in docs
make[1]: Nothing to be done for `all'.
Making all in man
make[1]: Nothing to be done for `all'.
make[1]: Nothing to be done for `all-am'.

Consequently (I guess) 'make install' doesn't work.

Has anyone else run into this problem? I'm not much familiar with GNU make.

Thanks-
Walker

Is that the entirety of the output from running 'make'?  Try running
'make clean', then 'make' again to be sure.

Do you see anything in, say, tools/fstools? You should see binaries if
the configuration and compilation went as planned.

Hello all,

What does one need to get in order to be able to
build Sleuthkit on a Mac - things like 'make' and compilers etc.

Does one buy them from Apple, is there freeware, etc?
All suggestions welcome.

TIA,

Warren

You need to acquire Xcode (http://developer.apple.com/TOOLS/Xcode/) -
it's Apple's development environment, and is free.  It takes several
GB of space, but iincorporates the tools necessary for both OSX and
traditional GNU development.

Hi,

That looks great - I've downloaded it and will give it a spin.

Thanks for the quick and useful response.

Warren
