Hello list!

Today I tried to compile Amarok from source and forgot that the hdd I had downloaded the sources to was mounted with noexec. It took me quite a while to figure that out because Amarok’s cmake configuration failed with the following error message:

-- Performing Test HAVE_FPIE_SUPPORT
-- Performing Test HAVE_FPIE_SUPPORT - Success
-- Performing Test __KDE_HAVE_W_OVERLOADED_VIRTUAL
-- Performing Test __KDE_HAVE_W_OVERLOADED_VIRTUAL - Success
-- Performing Test __KDE_HAVE_GCC_VISIBILITY
-- Performing Test __KDE_HAVE_GCC_VISIBILITY - Success
CMake Error at /usr/share/apps/cmake/modules/FindKDE4Internal.cmake:1104 (message):
  Qt compiled without support for -fvisibility=hidden.  This will break
  plugins and linking of some applications.  Please fix your Qt installation.
Call Stack (most recent call first):
  /usr/share/cmake-2.8/Modules/FindKDE4.cmake:95 (FIND_PACKAGE)
  CMakeLists.txt:69 (find_package)

I’m not sure if you can do something about it or if it is a cmake issue but it would be helpful if it just said that it could not execute some script or something. To emphasize again: There was nothing wrong with my qt installation and after just remounting said hdd with exec option everything worked like a charm. :)

Greetings!

Edgar

<snip>

I'd bring this up on the kde-buildsystem list and/or with CMake. I'm not
sure which one is responsible, but we're just using the stock macros.
