configure problem on 64 bit linux platform

Hello,
we have trouble running configure for rivet on a linux 64 bit system (Ubuntu)
for apache 1.3.x. During configure some places seem to behave like the yes
command instead of checking some dependencies. As we only need the binaries
and we did not find them for downloading, does anybody have binearies for a
64 bit linux system, or a link where to find them?
