a simple cppunit code worked fine in Linux but failed in Cygwin. the
libcppunit.a in cygwin was compiled from 1.12.0. the second statement
in the below statement sequence lead to a core dump. however, if when
i removed all test cases, below statements run okay.
CppUnit::TestFactory ®istry = CppUnit::TestFactoryRegistry::getRegistry()
runner.addTest( registry.makeTest() );
