crashes when closing a tabHi,
In recent weeks, on debian lenny, galeon started to crash when CLOSING a tab. It is currently crashing on average every third time when I close some tab. This is in fact much better than iceweasel which is currently crashing everytime when I try to open a new webpage. The only non-crashing browser right now is opera. I have this behaviour on TWO different computers running debian lenny (one of them is a clean install). I'm wondering how people browse the web these days? -- Janek Kozicki | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Galeon-user mailing list Galeon-user@... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/galeon-user |

Does it happen without flash-player-plugin as well? Assuming you have it installed now. I had these crashes as well on Mandriva, and tried running it under gdb. All backtraces pointed at flash. Without flash I haven't had a crash since then (about a week now). -- Marcel Pol ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Galeon-user mailing list Galeon-user@... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/galeon-user |

But I want to use flash :/ At least we know that it's not a problem with galeon. Apparently iceweasel suffers the same flash-related problem. The nicest solution (as I already mentioned) would be a way to turn flash support on/off from within galeon. See my previous post [1]: Galeon top Menu: Web->Allow Java Web->Allow JavaScript Web->Allow Flash (add this one!) this would easily prevent crashes - I would turn on flash only when I really need it. And be prepared for a crash. And be prepared for a crash. And while we are at it, adding a similar option for .pdf files would be similarly useful. Yeah, currently .pdf plugin works in galeon with acroread, but maybe it will again be crashing in the future? Yeah, adding those options is kinda admitting that "sorry flash and pdf support is sometimes broken", get over it. Think out-of-the box, this is actually the most convenient solution for users. Galeon top Menu: Web->Allow Java Web->Allow JavaScript Web->Allow Flash (add this one!) Web->Allow Pdf (add this one!) When "Allow Pdf" is disabled, trying to open pdf results in a "save file" dialog box. When "Allow flash" is disabled, a box with flash content is empty.
