cygwin install possibly stucki tried to install the entire cygwin package (switched "All" to "Install" in install wizard) and the installer appears to be stuck. the cpu load is high but it has been stuck here for hours:
http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=df6rbz9c_1226mng4s so then i found this file: C:\cygwin\var\logsetup.log.postinstallXa01600 which had this message inside: /usr/bin/bash: /cygdrive/c/Users/Adam/.bashrc: Bad address but now i'm stuck, any advice? kill the installer? adam ps. on windows vista |

My guess is that you have a third-party bash already in your PATH that is getting confused by cygwin. But had you followed these directions: > Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html and included 'cygcheck -svr' output as a text attachment, we'd know for sure. If that was indeed the problem, I'd remove the third-party bash from your PATH and try the cygwin install again. - -- Don't work too hard, make some time for fun as well! > only found 1: Maybe that's all *you* could find, but cygcheck almost certainly would have found another. If you had followed the instructions given in the first response you received from Eric, you'd almost certainly have been up and running by now. Instead of following the instructions here: > Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html You decided to ignore them completely and uninstall instead. Let's get this clear, you requested help, then ignored the instructions you were given, then compounded the offence by effectively saying "I've ignored you and did my own thing, and now that's not worked either". Yet, you still expect people to rush to your assistance? Instead of what should have taken just 2 messages: Q) I've got a problem, here's the output of cygcheck... A) This is your problem, do x, then y, then z to fix it we have already got to 8 messages (9 including this) and you STILL haven't posted the cygcheck output and are therefore no closer to a resolution. > Sent from the Cygwin list mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
