I'll be the first to say that I have absolutely no clue on how to go about this, but I have a an IP address and several domains that could be used to host a repository or PPA or whatever it's called and would set aside the time needed to maintain this.
I'd probably need some heavy coaching if I have to do any heavy lifting in the scripting department if it gets beyond korn shell scripts.

Thanks for the interest Dale!  If I knew what to tell you to do next, we'd be on that one already :)

So first up for you is to figure out what steps to happen and let us know what you need from us.  I'm glad to help any way I can.

A quick search turned up:

That's probably a good place to get started.  Cc'ing Michael since he's the current gallery3 package maintainer and he may have context...

I have Ubuntu, webmin and medibuntu repositories locally, I just haven't figured out the key creation thing yet.
I'm still doing mirrors.

I was just reading http://ianlawrence.info/random-stuff/setting-up-a-personal-debian-repository but it's a little dated.
I'll start reading your link.

Any pointers anyone has will really be appreciated!

My gallery 3 packages are available at
http://people.debian.org/~schultmc/debian/ - I'm using mini-dinstall to
configure the repository.
