Developer in the hypervisors field + Debian packaging

Hi,

Ulteo develops infrastructure solutions to virtualize the user's desktop
in a corporate environment. We're a startup company located in France,
with 9 employees at the moment. Our main product is called "Open Virtual
Desktop" and is Open Source (see http://www.ulteo.com).

We're looking for a new software developer with large-range skills from
Debian packaging to pure development around existing hypervisors.

This mission will start with a 8-month contract that will switch to a
permanent contract if everything goes fine.

Missions
--------

- to add "VDI" capabilities to our current Open Virtual Desktop
solution. Basically it means adding interactions between the Open
Virtual Desktop's Administration Console/Broker and hypervisors such as
Xen, ESX... Such interactions include
provisioning/starting/stopping/monitoring virtual machine instances.
We're mostly using libvirt for that purpose.

- to build, release and maintain Ulteo Debian packages cleanly, release
OVD/Linux system images and corresponding installation ISO images using
existing scripts.

Requirements
------------

- good level, experienced programer: C/C++/PHP/Python. Java would be a
plus. Good knowledge of common Internet protocols.

- very good knowledge of Debian packaging

- good knowledge of both Linux systems (in particular Debian/Ubuntu) and
Windows systems internals

- very good knowledge of hypervisors: Xen, ESX, KVM...

- well organized, autonomous, good human and team interactions

- good English + French or eager to learn French

- a good communication and the capability to meet and demo products to
corporate customers would be a big plus

Grid Computing for and with CERN in Oslo, Norway

this Job is not Debian-centric, but Debian-compatible, with many collaborators
using Debian or Ubuntu. The focus is on high energy physics (HEP):

I know the group to be good and friendly. This should be a dream position to be
in and do something good for the world. There are quite a number of HEP
packages in Debian already, mostly by their collaborators at CERN and Christian
(DM) in Copenhagen. The grid packages are done by the collaborators in
Copenhagen (Anders, a prospective DM) and Mattias (DM and DD applicant) in
Uppsala who are all collaborating via the NorduGrid.

From a Debian perspective, the challenge is to see our distribution used more
in those world-wide leading environments and have as much of the technologies
as possible forwarded through the Debian channels to mainstream. So I hope one
of us to be picked for this position.

comprises 1408 processors and 400 TB of storage. The successful candidate

deployment of Grid software.

Hi.

My current employer (a sufficiently stable company with solid financial
situation and good products) is looking for some (senior level) system
administrators.
The company is offering (noticeably) above average payments, friendly
work environment and a few other benefits.

We are looking for someone who has a deep knowledge of Linux in general.
Knowledge in puppet (configuration management), networking, firewalls,
routing protocols, DNS, Apache, tomcat, heartbeat (linuxHA) and
databases are not all needed, but you should be able to cover some of them.
Now to the downsides: You should be willing to cope with RedHat EL
(mostly RHEL 5) and CentOS (also mostly 5) despite being far inferior to
Debian ;-)
An additional plus would be some knowledge in Windows Domain/AD/Exchange
Administration to be able to work as a backup if our primary Windows
people are all unavailable.

Language requirements: Fluent english needed, fluent german a definite plus.

Experience Required

* Two years in a UNIX systems admin role within a Telco or ISP
environment.
* Detailed knowledge of Debian Linux including package
creation/management.
* Good working knowledge of Solaris and exposure to HP-UX.
* Programming scripting languages such as Bourne shell, PERL, PHP etc.
* Familiarity with C/C++ an advantage.
* Understanding of IP services such as DNS, RADIUS, SMTP, SNMP, SQL etc.
* Knowledge of SIP, H.323, VoIP systems an advantage.

Salary and Benefits

Salary range GBP 35,000 - GBP 45,000 per annum depending on experience.
Eligible for up to 10% annual bonus.
