Thanks for your input.

This is correct. Alternatively you can delete the whole directory
/etc/blends/junior.

I think I found the source of the problem (which is in blends-common
package) now but I was offline some days. I need to verify the problem
and hope to fix it at end of the week.

The thing which I'm really curious about is that even if the file

/etc/blends/junior/junior.conf

is in the package junior-config it is NOT extracted to this location
if the files you are mentioning above do exist. I need to understand
this behaviour first before I come up with a real fix.

I checked the contents of /etc/blends/junior, and found:

So I manually renamed "junior.conf~" to "junior.conf".
After that,
$ sudo aptitude reinstall junior-config

Uhm, yes, thanks for the hint. I'll do so this evening once I'll have
CVS access.

The other hit I found is

http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-jr

and I admit I'm really anxious about this project. The mailing list can
be considered dead, the updates on the metapackages will be done by me
because I volunteered for this and the web page is not maintained a
since a long time. I'd volunteer to do the rename on the page and I
also would add links to tasks and bugs pages. But I wonder whether we
should also add a note on top of the page that this project is orphaned
and needs people who work on this.

Maybe "workrave" could be used. (It's main purpose is to help avoid
repetitive stress injuries from using the keyboard/mouse too much, but
it can also kick lock you out after X minutes or hours of use.)

hi folks,

don't have any kids myself, but i have talked to a friend a few days ago
who has a software on his windows machine that gives his kids a time
budget they can spend, this way they don't surf the web all day and are
a bit more aware of the time they spend in front of the computer.

i briefly looked around and couln't find anything similar for linux (of
course i want to convert him and his kids! muhahahha)

i was wondering: do you think something like this is usefull? i am
asking because i have written something very similar a while ago, and
could dig up and adapt the code...

OK - yopu are the expert in games. I will not doubt your decision.

BTW also for other packages in the future: The tasks pages generating
tools also handle packages in NEW. Just mentioning them as dependency
in the tasks files is sufficient to show up on the tasks pages. See
for instance

That's the reason why I move ITP's immediately to the tasks pages to
not forget them.

I'm still not sure if this game is easy enough for young children to play. I'm waiting for more feedback on it. But you might be right, it's in NEW now, I'll add it when it enters and we'll see

Bug#542655: prompting due to modified conffiles which where not modified by the user

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed the piuparts upgrade
test because dpkg detected a conffile as being modified and then prompted the
user for an action. As there is no user input, this fails. But this is not
the real problem, the real problem is that this prompt shows up in the first
place, as there was nobody modifying this conffile at all, the package has
just been installed and upgraded...

This is a violation of policy 10.7.3, see
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-files.html#s10.7.3, which
says "[These scripts handling conffiles] must not ask unnecessary questions
(particularly during upgrades), and must otherwise be good citizens."

In http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2009/08/msg00675.html and followups it
has been agreed that these bugs are to be filed with severity serious.

From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

There is a login link on top of the page. If you follow this link
you can ask for a Wiki account. Once you have an account on the
right there is a page menu with the first entry "Edit".
