deploying snapshots... what am I doing wrong?

I've set up my settings.xml file[1]... and I get this

mvn deploy

[INFO] Error deploying artifact: Authorization failed: Access denied to:
https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/snapshots/org/apache/maven/plugins/maven-invoker-plugin/1.5-SNAPSHOT/maven-invoker-plugin-1.5-20091023.073206-1.jar

What am I missing?
