design a secure index for database encryption

I want to design a secure index to enable one to search any arbitrary pattern in encrypted data. My index will double the size of the data. does it so important? I want to prove the security of my algorithm. How I can prove the strength of an encryption algorithm. I will be so thankful if someone help me.

Why do you say the file will double the amount of data?
