discover switchHello ListServ,
I am looking for something comparable to the Discover switch with the software that allows for easy scanning. I am working with a teenager that is unable to read. She wants to be able to access the internet easy but is impaired with her mobility, only able to access a single buddy switch. I found this link for it but cannot seem to be able to purchase in the states anymore. http://www.donjohnston.co.uk/catalog/discoverswitch.htm Any advice or thoughts are welcomed! Thanks, Holly A. Re: discover switchI think Madentec bought Discover switch from Don Johnston, so it might help
to talk to them. I'm not sure if a current Madentec product is exactly like the old Discover switch, but I'm sure they could tell you. www.madentec.com Hope this helps, Heidi Koester --On Thursday, November 05, 2009 9:00 AM -0500 "Cohen, Holly" <Holly.Cohen@...> wrote: > Hello ListServ, > > I am looking for something comparable to the Discover switch with the > software that allows for easy scanning. Re: discover switchThe Grid 2 and VS are both nice, customisable onscreen keyboard options that have internet access pages that you can modify to suit your client's needs. Both have built in symbol support so literacy is not required.
http://www.sensorysoftware.com/thegrid2.html http://www.viking-software.com/products/01/index.php Discover:Switch (+ Discover:Kenx) has evolved to become DiscoverPro, accessed with IntelliSwitch - http://madentec.com/products/discoverpro.php you would also need Template maker if you wanted to customise your own setups. We did an comparsion of some of these onscreen keyboard options last year - you can check it out here (suppliers are Australian though) - http://www.thespasticcentre.com.au/news/technotalk/technotalk_july08.pdf Regards Liza Liza MacLean | Acting Team Leader/Occupational Therapist | TASC Consultative Services The Spastic Centre, 189 Allambie Road, Allambie Hts, NSW PO Box 184, Brookvale, NSW 2100 T 02 9975 8470 (Direct) 02 9975 8469 (Reception) 0409 933 158 (Mobile) | F 02 9975 8485 The Spastic Centre www.thespasticcentre.com.au Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common, physical disability in childhood CP is a permanent disability that affects movement CP results from damage to the developing brain, usually before birth In Australia, 1 in 400 babies are diagnosed with CP There is no known cure, and for most, the cause is unknown People with cerebral palsy may also have seizures, and sensory and intellectual impairments Donations may be made by phoning 1300 136 140 or at www.thespasticcentre.com.au -----Original Message----- From: RESNA's Assistive Technology Forum [mailto:AT-FORUM@...] On Behalf Of Cohen, Holly Sent: Friday, 6 November 2009 1:00 AM To: AT-FORUM@...
