The new release fixes 3 security problems:

* FCKeditor (remote file upload)
* Tracker (XSS problem)
* Knowledgebase (SQL injection)

==> WE RECOMMEND EVERYONE UPDATES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

The security fixes are also included in the commercial EGroupware
version EPL-9.1 (www.stylite.de/EPL).

Other bugfixes and improvments:

URGENT: FCKeditor remote file upload vulnerability

There's a vulnerability allowing to upload files in the FCKeditor
version included in EGroupware 1.6.001 and EPL 9.1.

We are working on a new security update (EGroupware 1.6.002). In the
meantime, please implemented the mitigation instructions of the above link.

In short delete the following directories or make them via unix
permissions inaccessible:

- phpgwapi/js/fckeditor/editor/filemanager/connectors (file upload)
- phpgwapi/js/fckeditor/_samples (XXS)

This will render fileupload and file/image browser unusable! Also check
if there have been files uploaded to your system (typically script to
eg. excute shell commands).

The final release will be on Tuesday 25th November 2008.
There will be one more release candidate by the end of this week.

It's very important for the quality of the release that all testers keep
on testing every one of the release candidates (please no leaning back
now and waiting for the final release)!

Announcement: eGWOSync ver. 0.5.1 released

I am pleased to announce that I have just released a new version of
eGWOSync (version 0.5.1). And as always I have some real goodies for you
guys.. Like, Sync on startup, AutoSync by interval and ofcause ported to
the latest eGroupware version.. Hope you enjoy this release..

For those that do not know what eGWOSync is, look at the bottom for a
general description.

Here are some of the key changes since v0.4.0

* Ported to eGroupware version 1.4 (required version is 1.4.004)
* Changed manuel password to * insted of clear text
* Added Startup Sync, for calendar, contacts, notes and todo's
* Added Auto Sync for calnedar, contacts, notes and todo's on regular
intervals

* Fixed bug with private flag not getting synced
* Added SyncAll button for easier "fast sync" :-)
* Easied a little up on the warning in the "First Time Guide"
* Added "Halt on critical error" option (use with care :)

* Fixed no calendar entries was retrieved from eGroupware
* Fixed cancel sync in Notes and ToDo's
* Changed logging, it now says what it syncs (calendar, notes, todo,
note, base)

Remember its still an unstable version... Do backups :-)

Requirements for the client is:
Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP (2000/XP is recommented)
Outlook 2000/XP/2003 (it might work with 2007, although it has not been
tested)
Microsoft .NET 1.1 Framework

Requrements for eGroupware is:
Version 1.4.004 with an enabled xmlrpc interface

General description of eGWOSync:

eGWOSync is a synchronization tool between Outlook and eGroupware (eGW).
It sync calendar, contacts, tasks and notes. Because it a sync tool it
means that you can sync your calendar in the morning and take you laptop
offline for the day work on it and when you get online again you can
sync the changes to either eGroupware or Outlook. It used to be
intergraded into Outlook but I have decided to make it an external tool
witch means that you can sync your Outlook without having it started.

Soll ich direkt die 1.5 nehmen, oder ist die Produktiv noch nicht wirklich einsetzbar?

Ich nutze hauptsaechlich MyDMS, Kalender, eMail, InfoLog und habe etwa 150 user, 10 simultanious.

Wie sieht es denn mit MyDMS aus? Das neue Modul habe ich bisher noch nicht gesehen. Wie kann ich sicherstellen dass die Zugriffsrechte und auch Dateien genau so verfuegbar sind wie auch im MyDMS der 1.4?

What's new in eGroupware v1.6?

eGroupWare 1.4.004 FCKeditor update & security release UPDATE

The first 1.4.004 packages contained two bugs:
- felamimail gave an error "no egw_simple template"
- the spellchecker / aspell did not work (it need to be configured and
enabled in Admin >> Site configuration)

The 1.4.004-2 tar.bz2, tar.gz and zip packages and the 1.4.005-15 rpm
packages are fixing the above errors.

Please note that notification, importexport and SyncML require php5.1,
while the rest of eGW 1.4 requires only php4.3! Please remember you

The update also included many bug fixes since the 1.4.001/2 packages.

This is probably the last 1.4 release, as the Version 1.6 is planned for
early this summer.

This update had to be produced on very short notice, as the original
mail to security@... was bounced, by the mail infrastructure
operated by the former project member Lars Kneschke. The project has no
control over it and the egroupware.org domain, which is owned by the
Lars Kneschke. In spite of his public statement, that the egroupware.org
domain belongs to the project
(http://www.nabble.com/tine20.de%2C-egroupware.de%2C-egroupware.org%2C-etc.-to15711914s3741.html#a15754039),
he has not transferred the domain to the eGroupWare project. He was
contacted multiple times and was sent a transfer form, he only need to sign.

We ask everyone to politely contact Lars Kneschke
(l.kneschke@...) and the Tine project
(http://www.tine20.org/forum/) to help convincing them to transfer the
egroupware.org domain to the eGroupWare project.

If we can't get control over the domain or it get switched off or to a
different website, we have to switch the eGroupWare infrastructure to
www.egroupware-server.org

IMPORTANT for eGroupWare svn users

You only need to read further, if you use eGroupWare via svn.

We are in the final steps of creating the 1.4 version.

If you plan to use the 1.4 branch, but use trunk at the moment, you need
to switch to the 1.4 branch NOW!

Trunk is updating to 1.5.001, which is not automatic downgradable to 1.4!

Most easy to do the switch is:
cd /path/to/egroupware
svn update . # to get the little svn-helper.php script
./svn-helper.php switch
http://svn.egroupware.org/egroupware/branches/1.4/\$module
After visiting setup you are on 1.4.001

If you accidentally already upgrades via setup to 1.5.001, you can
safely reset the version in the database to 1.4.001 by using the
following SQL:
update egw_applications set app_version='1.4.001' where app_name='phpgwapi'

The 1.4 packages will become available during the day.

eGroupWare 1.2-106 bugfix and maintainance release

This is a bugfix and maintainance release for the 1.2 branch of
eGroupWare. We recommend everyone to update to it.

Please note:
The most important fix is PHP5.2 compatibility.
Because of a nasty bug in the PHP5.2 mbstring extension, you have to
additionally switch display_errors Off, to be able to work with
eGroupWare using multibyte charsets like utf-8 (or anyway if you have
mbstring.func_overload > 0). Otherwise you get tons of "empty haystack"
warnings.

Package layout (NO change to the previous 1.2 packages):

It contains only bugfixes and language updates, no new features. It also contains a security relevant fix, if you use eGroupWare with register_globals On, against our recommendation and configuration files. We recommend everyone updates to it.

Changelog:

- many SyncML fixes

- umlauts and other non-ascii chars got corrupted in a nextmatch search, when you scroll with left and right arrows, the search value got unnecessary urlencoded

- news_admin: missing config for the picture upload added

- fixed tooltip for planner (allways showed 0:00, 0h in header)

- fixed not working planner-start-with-group "None" option, which caused a permanet writing of the calendar default prefs on every login

- InfoLog: import of responsible was not working, as InfoLog expects now an array there, fixed it so that the import accepts now a comma or semicolon separated list of nummerical user-id or user-names

- ProjectManager: removed readonly on budget nextmatch-sortheader (was not working)

- some etemplate fixes:

+ date-widget does no longer set extension-data if readonly (not used and can conflict with other widgets using the same name, as it was the problem in PM)

+ select-widget: fix for "can not unselect the last category"

+ red error-messages have now a "white-space: nowrap" for nice formatting

+ confirm-message did not quote single quotes (') correct, which caused the complete confirm dialog to fail and allways execute the button

- fixed acl.tpl bug: typo in hiddenvars, causes search in acl to loose the user/group and default to the current user

eGroupWare moved to subversion

After 3 years of development with the CVS version control system offered
by sf.net, we say thank you to sf.net and moved to our own subversion
repository.

Reason for the move was the permanent problems with the CVS on sf.net
since end or March and the wish to use a more modern version control system.

eGroupWare's repository can be browsed online with viewvc
(www.egroupware.org/viewvc).

PLEASE NOTE:
Updates via cvs are NOT longer working (due to changes on sf.net) AND
the cvs repository on sf.net is no longer updated. If you want to get
eg. bugfixes for released versions (before bugfix releases), you have to
switch your installation to a subversion checkout.

Instruction on how to create a subversion checkout are available in the
subversion page (www.egroupware.org/wiki/subversion) in our wiki. The
repository's 1.2 branch contains already all the bugfixes for the
upcoming 1.2.101 bugfix release.

The eGroupWare project is pleased to announce the next major release
of its collaboration suite, eGroupWare. After 20 months of active
development, it comes with blazing new features and many improvements
for usability and performance.

The user interface for the major applications has been extensively
harmonized, giving the user a more intuitive way to do their daily work.

Through the use of new programming techniques and technologies, this
new release has become notably faster.

The newly-integrated SyncML Server makes eGroupWare now compatible

7. release candidate for the upcomming 1.2 release

This is (hopefully) the last RC before the final release.

We expect the final release within one week.

This time we also provide RPM's for SuSE 10 and Fedora Core 4.

To all eGroupWare CVS users,

the 1.2 is finally getting closer:

1.2RC7 will be released today and the final 1.2 release is expected
within a week.

Therefor we had to switch the 1.2 release to a release branch and open
the HEAD / development branch again for new developments.

What does that mean for you?

a) You use HEAD / development branch because you want to use the 1.2
Release and intend to stay with it, once it's stable: You need to switch
to the "Version-1_2_0-branch" with your next cvs update:

cvs update -dPr Version-1_2_0-branch

That switch is sticky, so you have to do it only once and of cause for
every checkout. You can always update to newer releases after!

ATTENTION:
If you dont switch to the 1.2 branch, but further update using HEAD /
development branch, you will not be able to downgrade again eGW to the
stable 1.2 release !!!

b) You want to follow the up-to-date development with all it's benefits
and of cause (temporary) problems of active development: You dont have
to do anything and the next cvs update will update eGW to 1.3.001.

If you accidentally updated 1.2RC or newer to 1.3.001 and want to come
back to the stable 1.2 release, you can do at the moment the following:

cvs update -dPr Version-1_2_0-branch

If you also run setup to update the eGW database to 1.3.001 you have to
do the following:

mysql --user=<db_user> --password --database=<db_name> --execute UPDATE
egw_applications SET app_version='1.2.007' WHERE app_name='phpgwapi'

[eGroupWare-german] 4. release candidate for upcomming 1.2 release

Again many bugs fixed.

Due to the number of bugs fixed since RC3, I decided to have at least
one more release candidate - this one.

Because of a critical bug in the db-class, I recommend everyone using
the previous RC's to update to this one ASAP, as you can damage your
data. One effect of the bug is, that new created files in filemanager
are shown twice. This will not go away, you have to delete and re-add
the files.

Hi everybody,

The 1.2 release includes:
- complete rewrite of the calendar, plus new resource booking system
- new projectmanager applications using infolog and calendar data
- syncml to synchronise cell-phones, PDA's and outlook
- workflow application
- and many more ...

The packages (no rpm's at this stage) can be downloaded from sf.net:

The packages for 1.2 are organized a bit different now:
- eGroupWare package contains all stable and maintained applications
- eGroupWare-contrib contains all the other packages (not for rpm)
- eGroupWare-<appname> (rpm only) contains single packages, which
require the eGroupWare or eGroupWare-core package to run

I plan to have 2 more RC's on the next two weeksends and the final
release shortly after the 3. RC. That's the plan ;-)

Unforunally not all planned features have made it in the RC1.

The following features will be included in the next RC:
- Calendar: sheduling of contacts, xmlrpc, handling of groups
- Wiki: Search in SiteMgr
- Manual: Search and links to Startpage of Manual
- new app from Olivier to chat between eGW users
- diverse SiteMgr modules

Happy testing of the new features and possebilities :-)

As we are not able to maintain more then one release/version, please
stop reporting bugs for the 1.0.0 branch. I hope for you understanding.

Please report bugs as usual to the bug-tracker on sf.net
(http://sf.net/projects/egroupware click on bugs) and assign the version
1.2RC1. Please verify your bugs (if possible) on our demo on
egroupware.org, they may be already fixed.

I'm terribly sorry, i have to supress posting permissions, cause the
maillinglist sync feature of fudforum isn't working.

This is frustrating for useres who post in this forum and get no answers.

It's also frustrating for mailinglist users who anser and there answers are
not read.

I'm working on a solution and hopfully we can reopen the forum in a couple
of days.
