em8300_ma-0 not created

Hello,

For some reason device em8300_ma-0 is not created using both 0.16.4 and 0.17.0 versions. My system is AMD64 dual core running CBLFS with 2.6.24.4 kernel. Last version that generated such device was SVN checkout dated 1/1/08.
If I go back to January's SVN it does not work either now...
   Any ideas?

Alonso

I doubt you tried any SVN checkout, since SVN has never been used for
the development of this driver.

Are you using the "audio_driver=oss" parameter for the em8300 module?
ALSA has been the default since 0.16.0.

Cheers,

Nicolas

Sorry, I was thinking in automatic... I meant CVS.

I'm using audio_driver=alsa. If I run ldm after loading ALSA snd-via82xx
driver only devices em8300-0, em8300_mv-0 and em8300_sp-0 are created.
Furthermore, before ldm there is one audio, one dsp and one adsp device but
after ldm do its thing there are audio1, dsp1 and adsp1 aditional devices.
Non em8300_ma-0 device created as it used to be.

Thanks,

Alonso

em8300_ma-0 is sound device of the em8300 if you use audio_driver=oss.
If you use audio_driver=alsa then there is no such device, but there
are some alsa output devices.

No, as Christian answer before I did, those devices are not supposed to
be created with audio_driver=alsa, as they are OSS devices.

And please subscribe to the list so I don't have to manually approve
your messages (and so you can read the answers).

Cheers,

Nicolas
