email list/listserv in a wiki?

Is embedding a link to a listserv (i.e., yahoogroup, etc.) the only current way to incorporate a mailing list on a wiki?
 
I recall seeing a beta mailing list wikimedia app  a while back... does anyone know of such an app or know of any upcoming ones?
