report=I removed the encoding declaration from my document, but I still got an encoding error: "An attempt to load the RDF from URI 'http://pantheon.yale.edu/~yn47/YaleSubjectVocabulary.rdf' failed. (Undecodable data when reading URI at byte 625121 using encoding 'UTF-8'. Please check encoding and encoding declaration of your document.)"  I believe the encoding is, in fact, UTF-8.

On a first look, your file is only US-ASCII, which would make it
UTF-8 automatically.

Can you please use some hex dump tool and send us the bytes around
byte 625121?

Regards,    Martin.
