fglrx vs. radeon

Ok I got today around of a lot of my trouble.
I switched from fglrx to radeon getting all around a unbelievable better
show. Better and faster rendering of h264 videos, more speed on opengl
(enemy territory and metin2 (wine)), working suspend 2ram and 2disk. All
this with kde4 effects enabled and I could unplug the powercord at any
moment ;)
So it seems that there is something evil between my planar and the
fglrx. But this makes sure that I will never get the real reasons for
those troubles, because I won't do a day work to get my system back to
fglrx.

So I think Henrique is right there is something bad with this box (fglrx
works fine for others I hope), but it does something really different as
the xorg stuff and that seems to break my box.

Ok, for me it works with radeon, the rest, a bit they have fixed before
I got the box back, so my hope is that the evil ghost will sleep in a
dark corner of this box until I could replace it with a Calpella based one.

So my outcome is don't use fglrx it multiplies any trouble already in
your box.

It also works well with the radeonhd driver with 3D enabled, v1.2.5 or
later.  I've been using it for some time and have all the benefits you
listed with a smaller memory footprint (still have Xorg
sucking-all-memory problem though).  Suspend never worked will with
fglrx for me, hit-or-miss.  The radeonhs driver has been much more
stable for me on a T60p.

Incidentally, I must have a first-gen T60p since I've only had one
problem, failing hard disk a few months before the 3yr warranty was up.
Replaced using advance-replacement and the hd sled for the ultrabay to
copy everything over.

Regards,
Mike

Is it a CoreDuo or a Core2Duo, that is the only real diffrence afaik
between first and second generation.
