Why does mvpmc not show files in a directory.   I have a directory that contains a video file, but when mvpmc enters the directory via the fb is does not show it.

What would make the video not show up?   It has an avi extension.

root@myth:/mnt/video# file video.avi
video.avi: RIFF (little-endian) data, AVI, 576 x 432, 29.97 fps, video: XviD, audio: MPEG-1 Layer 3 (stereo, 48000 Hz)
root@myth:/mnt/video#

Thanks, Mike

Is your mvp device nfs mounting the volume you
have the file on?  In your above example, is myth a
linux box, or an mvp box?  If you want to browse files
on the mvp, the directories have to be "local" to the
mvp box, via some kind of network mount (nfs or cifs).

(I have 2.5TB of space via 5 spindles on my myth BE,
and my mvp has NFS mounted all 5 spindles, and can see
all the files there....)

Yes the mvpmc has a nfs mount to the linux server.  The file command was issued on the linux server.  There are files in the directory and mvpmc sees some of the files.  It is just missing some of them.

There are only 10 files in the directory and mvpmc is missing 2 of them.

Files that need vlc support will not show if vlc is not enabled.

I have VLC enabled and working.  The other 8 files all need VLC and work with VLC.

Is there any debug that I can enable to see why it does not see all of the files?

Thanks, Mike

Telnet to the mvp, and use the ls command to see if they show up, it
might be a share problem.  There is also the issue of utf versus iso
8859 that comes up on anime files as an example.

Yes they show up in a ls command.

(from the mvpmc)
# pwd
/mnt/mythtv/Video
# stat video_1.avi
  File: "video_1.avi"
Size: 806062375       Blocks: 0          IO Block: 659909214 (null)
Device: 13afb0h/4096d   Inode: 268887912   Links: 0
Access: (0744/-rwxr--r--)  Uid: ( 1000/ UNKNOWN)   Gid: (  100/ UNKNOWN)
Access: Wed Oct 15 22:11:30 2008
Modify: Wed Oct 15 22:11:30 2008
Change: Wed Oct 15 22:11:30 2008

I am not sure I understand the utf vs iso 8859?  Is that something I can change?

Thanks, Mike

Martin is referring to the character set used for the file names.

Yes, rename the files.

But if the file name is literally what you posted, that doesn't look to
be your problem.

Odd, that file should work.  Several months ago someone submitted some
code for view ports which screwed up the file browser display a bit.
Maybe you have to scroll down a line.  If that is the problem I added
command line option --classic that brings the UI back to the old
style.

Classic mode does not work.  Can you point me to the location in code where I can start to look?   A function name ?

Thanks, Mike
