file.copy returning "FALSE"?

I'm running the command:

    file.copy(fnhdr,outdir,overwrite=TRUE)

Which successfully copies the file I want to the directory I want, but
each time it prints "FALSE" -- what does this mean, and how do I
suppress this output?
