Hello to all,
Maybe my question is  very sample for you but really hard for me.
What is the best way to sketch the flywheel drawing into Abaqus.

Sketch module in Abaqus works like a CAD program. You can draw a lot of
defult lines (like circles, squares, etc..), else you can import a DXF file
from AutoCad.
In conclusion, if you are good in AutoCAD draw you can do the flywheel there
and then import it in the sketch module in Abaqus. Pay attention: because
you can only import 2D images with the Sketch Module.

Bye

Nicholas

As Nicholas Fantuzzi replied, the Abaqus CAE sletcher is a decent CAD-like tool for creating 2D shapes.

What is your modeling goal? Do you want to create your flywheel as an axisymmetric body or in 3D? Depending on that choice, you can (in Abaqus CAE) go to Part > Create, select the type of object to create (for example: 3D, deformable, solid, revolution) and click "continue...". Then you will be in the sketcher where you can create your 2D shape. Make sure your shape is closed, otherwise the sketcher will not allow you to exit.

Thanks, Nicholas , Danny
Actually i want create a flywheel in 3D.
As you know the flywheel is 360 degree. But when i want sketcher what the best way, going to sketcher (only 90 degree and make a mirror )
Best

When you go through the sketcher to create a 3D body of revolution, you have a choice at some point about the angle through which you sweep your cross section to make a solid. It is not limited to 90 degrees, that's just the default value. You could make one 90 degree body, then instance it 4 times in the assembly model, rotate the instances to make your full 360 degree body and then merge the instances to get a single solid.

However; think about how you will apply loads and constraints. Maybe you want to apply pressure over a 30 degree section, for example, so you might choose to make your wheel from 30 degree wedge segments.

P.S. Although the Abaqus group does not require this, it is nice when people who post questions let the rest of us know their affiliation (university? corporation?).

That's not completely true. You can draw a 360 degree flywheel then by using
section button, you can "cut" you solid with planes. In that way you can
apply your boundary conditions wherever you want. Else Danny's solution is
great!
