Thats almost a classic situation, no idea tho, why Andrew Reilly (the PR originator) didn't manage to make it work.
Just add -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true, or just recompile jdk16 to disable IPV6 support.

As Greg, said, we better focus on openjdk, try to use tomcat with openjdk. (its available as a package, in case you want to avoid compilations)
I have used openjdk with jboss succesfully, for the last 2 weeks (but so did i for diablo as well).
I hope you manage to solve your issue.

I've installed 'jdk-1.6.0.3p4_13' from ports but get different problems using it.
Tomcat, which I'd like to run, doesn't start using native JDK.
Meanwhile I found freebsd-java list archive, searched a little bit and guess I'm running into

I believe that a lot of the openjdk6 port was based on the existing jdk16
patches. The benefit you'll get from openjdk6 is that it is based on a
considerably more up to date version of the jdk6 code base. If someone
has the time and the inclination, jdk16 could be updated significantly,
but that seems unlikely at the moment. The down sides for openjdk6 are
that due to licensing restrictions there is now javaws or browser plugin
included. If those are important to you then you are better off sticking
with jdk16.

Really? Greg, I'm runnning the port labelled "jkd16", and with that as a base,
I've been running eclipse with great success, but I know I'm going to *have* to
upgrade sometime. Could you please tell me what's the relationship between the
jdk16 port and openjdk? I mean, is one of those in a somewhat parental
relationship with the other? Are they related? Will my experience with jdk16
have a good chance of being just as good with openjdk6? I hope I'm not stupid

mysql-connector-java50 port -- anyone still using it?

Hi,

I'm the maintainer of the mysql-connector-java50 port, which was forked off
from mysql-connector-java some years ago. As this port is now well behind the
current mysql-connector-java at version 5.1.10, and it depends on JDK 1.4 or 1.5,
I wonder how much use it is nowadays.

Unless I hear otherwise, I'm minded to send in a PR to deprecate (and eventually
remove) the port in the next few days. So, if this is something you rely upon,
please speak now or forever hold your peace. If there's still any interest in
keeping the port, I shall leave well alone.

If you're trying to use an application that dynamically instantiates a JVM
itself or uses its own JNI library rather than a pure Java application then
you're likely to have trouble since you're mixing and matching code from
different versions of the operating system.

How to install mod_jk apache22 and FreeBSD 8.0

Hi

I re-install the serveur and they changed the SSD hard disk because they
were out of order.
I have done the make command without any trouble.

So I think that my trouble was due to the SSD failure.

I would say at this point that there is unlikely to be one unless someone
donates a substantial amount of money to the Foundation. The Diablo
releases are pretty expensive. You can run the one for 7.0 with compat7x
installed, with some limitations.

Brian Gardner did the porting work on openjdk6. IIRC he did at least
reference the other ports when doing that.

Yes. OpenJDK7 is already ported, there just isn't a formal port of it yet.
It's still a pretty fast moving target. I'd also like to see a solution
for the bootstrap problem before it's created.

It's used bsd.java.mk (if its available) for a long time. It will fall
back on its own internal logic if its not.

General thoughts on java@freebsd-8/amd64

Hello, (sorry for having missed some of the latest developments in FreeBSD-Java in the last couple of years).
The last few days, i have been deploying a new machine (AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 965 Processor) with FreeBSD 8.0-RELEASE, as
my main (next) development platform.
I noticed that
- diablo-jdk1.6.0/amd64 is not precompiled for FreeBSD 8.0, (but for FreeBSD 7.0) shouldn't there be one?
- there is openjdk16, which says that it will supercede jdk16 in the future, but the maintainer is not Greg Lewis,
what is Greg's involvement/relationship with this?
- there is no openjdk17 port, it is expected to be available in the future?
- javawrapper does not behave like it used to. Now it is basically relying on /usr/ports/Mk/bsd.java.mk

haven't installed any real app to do performance testing.

Java on FreeBSD/sparc64

It's slow and I'm not particularly confident of how well it works on SMP.
But if you're feeling adventurous and have FreeBSD/sparc64 8.0 and a yen
to use Java then you might be interested in trying it out.

Note that this isn't a package, its just a tarball based on the BSD port
of OpenJDK 7.

If you were particuarly keen you could install Mercurial with the forest
extension, hg fclone http://hg.openjdk.java.net/bsd-port/bsd-port/ and
see if you could use it as a bootstrap to port HotSpot so it was faster.

Sorry, I don't think I have the bandwidth to get this going on 7.x right
now. If you'd like to I can outline roughly what I did.

There will eventually be an openjdk7 port that will make this easier.

diablo-jdk-1.6.0.07.02_7 crashes SIGSEGV

Hello,

I've got a

FreeBSD 8.0-RELEASE FreeBSD 8.0-RELEASE #0: Sat Nov 21 15:02:08 UTC
2009 root@...:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC
amd64 amd64 GENERIC

driven machine with

diablo-jdk-1.6.0.07.02_7

installed from ports which are up to date.

My also installed

tomcat-6.0.20_1

crashed three times when using Sonatype Nexus, to me it seems it all
times crashed when executing the same code.

The resulting "hs_err*.log" files state to send this error to this
address. Can anybody help me in

1) figure the right recipient if I'm wrong
2) figure why JVM is crashing

You've truncated the last part of the error output, making it
impossible to diagnose what the problem is. At a guess, I'd say that
you've got some funky settings in /etc/make.conf breaking your ports
build; but we really need the output of the last command.

I tried two ways but there is an error in each of them: compilation

version are not supporting inbield LAN Card, And i have installed Java
chat server on this version.
I am facing a problam that JAVA vmwrappar service deos not start when

I've been dealing with this problem for a while since I decided to use the
Sun JDK with Linux ABI on FreeBSD, it's a fact that the JDK diablo version
distributed by FreeBSD Foundation from time to time is outdated. My problem
is that I'm not only a sysadmin, network administrator or FreeBSD user, I'm
a Java developer too (that means I have to get the latest JDK version ever).

About the contact, did you tried to send an email do
board@... (I've got this address in FreeBSD Foundation
Homepage). Will you send the email requesting the update or I will send
this? If you send, please, copy thgesteves@....
