gphoto2 + kubuntu 9.10 + canon eos 450d = infinite loop

Hello!

Since i've upgraded to kubuntu 9.10, I can't make Canon EOS 450D to
capture image. It was working with kubuntu 9.04 (perfectly with 2.4.7
and at least it was not looping infinitely with 2.4.5)

When I run
gphoto2 --set-config capture=on --capture-image
It just freezes there and i have to turn camera off to stop process or
I have to kill it since ctrl-c is not working. Hence, turning camera
off is at the end of each log.

Full debug output for both versions is here
http://lonelyelk.com/xfer/logs.zip (I dont know if attachment this big
- 936 kb - is even allowed in this list)

This output is for command
env LANG=C gphoto2 --debug --debug-logfile=log***.txt --set-config
capture=on --capture-image

For two versions:
gphoto2         2.4.5          gcc, popt(m), exif, cdk, aa, jpeg, readline
libgphoto2      2.4.6          gcc, ltdl, EXIF
libgphoto2_port 0.8.0          gcc, ltdl, USB, serial without locking

and
gphoto2         2.4.7          gcc, popt(m), exif, no cdk, no aa, jpeg, readline
libgphoto2      2.4.7          gcc, ltdl, EXIF
libgphoto2_port 0.8.0          gcc, ltdl, USB, serial without locking

What am i doing wrong? Where to start look for anything? Should I
replace any other library?
I'm working with gphoto2 for some time now, developing gphoto4ruby gem
(ruby wrapping around libgphoto2), and this it the first time I
encounter a problem of this kind. And this happens only with canon.

Thank you!

Sincerely,
Sergey Kruk

It fails sending USB commands. This looks like a problem with lowlevel
USB communication :/

As you changed to a new ubuntu I would like to blame that ... ;)

Is there anything interesting in "dmesg" output regarding usb / the camera?

Ciao, Marcus

At a friends place, the trigger for GRUB refused to recognize the
karmic-installed kernel. So the machine continued to boot the old
kernel (without much indication to the user).

But because certain things had been upgraded, they stopped working. In
my friends case it was "3d accelleration" and "sound" that stopped
working.

Does it sit on the couch all day? Is it unemployed? Please be specific!
