gpsBabel in Java?

Hi all,
I have migrated my StarTraX app from Desktop VB.NET to the web with HTML,
javascript, PHP and java, so it now runs on Mac as well and PC. (When Google
ports the GEPlugin to Unix and and Android I'll be in clover!) In the
desktop version, I have implemented an interface to GpsBabel to convert
other formats (plt, NMEA, IGC) to GPX and am now faced with the challenge of
providing a similar flexibility for the new version.
I'm using Java to access the track files from the users' local drives and
wonder if anyone has ported the GpsBabel code to Java so I could do the
conversion to GPX on the fly. That would be amazing!
Cheers,
Alan
