If you are trying to delete a forum you just created, don't worry, just leave it there, and it will be automatically deleted because of the lack of activity.
If you want to delete a child forum "AAA" from a hierarchy, you can do it by removing the parent(s) from "AAA" or removing "AAA" from its parent(s). This will cause "AAA" to disappear from the parent view. "AAA" will go to the top level without any parents, and will be automatically deleted because of the lack of activity.
Forums with no parents that have been inactive for 60 days are scheduled for deletion. At this time, the forum list owner is notified and the forum is scheduled to be deleted in another 30 days. If the forum is edited or a post is made to the forum, then the scheduled deletion is aborted.
