Nabble Help

Does Nabble archive support the "[xxx]" prefix convention to sub-divide a list?

Yes.

An active mailing list often uses the prefix convention of adding "[xxx]" prefix to message subjects, thus allowing email clients to filter email subject by the prefix for cataloging messages. Nabble allows you to do the same with mailing list archive.

Suppose your mailing list has 3 message subject prefixes: [User], [Dev], [OT], and your list is archived in "ZZZ list" forum on Nabble. You can create 3 child forums under "ZZZ list", and each child name containing the corresponding prefix. Therefore, for example, you create 3 child forums by the name "ZZZ [User]", "ZZZ [Dev]", "ZZZ [OT]". After this setup, the messages with prefix will be moved down to the corresponding child forum, all unmatched messages will remain on top level. In addition, if a Nabble user posts a message to "ZZZ [User]", Nabble will prefix his message subject with [User] before forwarding his message to your mailing list.

Please note that using [ and ] is required for this setup to work in mailing list archives.
