how to validate the test plan is doing what I actually set it up to do

I set up the HTTP request with set up in the 'send parameters with the
request'. I do not see in the log the parameters I send. How can I validate
this?

Add the View Results Tree Listener , it will show you the request and
response.
Disable this once you are done debugging
