interpret mailgraph graphs

Hi,
 

How should we interpret the numbers in the graphs?

 

I understand sent and received, but is spam, rejected and virus a

subset from the sent and received?

 

Or can I add received and rejected and spam up to get the total amount

of messages which we have received?
