Re: is a kernel 2.6.14.* patch availableHave you tried Dick St.Peters' patch against 2.6.12? It worked fine
for .13, past which I haven't bothered to upgrade. -- Message sent by the cipe-l@... mailing list. Re: AW: is a kernel 2.6.14.* patch availableI've posted a new cipe patch, for kernel 2.6.14.2, at
ftp://ftp.netheaven.com/pub/cipe/cipe-1.6.0.-kernel-2.6.14.2.patch The patched cipe will probably work for 2.6.14 and 2.6.14.1, but I have not tried them. -- Dick St.Peters, stpeters@... -- Message sent by the cipe-l@... mailing list. Re: AW: is a kernel 2.6.14.* patch availableHi Dick,
this patch freezes on a plain SuSE 10.0 with 2.6.14.3 when keys are used. With nokeys it does not. You do not even need another endpoint connected, just load and wait 10 secs. There seem to be no syslog-msgs or so. Any ideas or things to check? Regards, Stephan PS: I did a similar patch myself and it has the same problem ... RE: AW: is a kernel 2.6.14.* patch availableHi!
Seems, it is an old-old mis-design (?) "feature" - compile your kernel w/o "regparam" and cipe will go to work properly ... Can anybody look onto it to fix? /aTan > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-cipe-l@... Setting the kernel config parameter CONFIG_PARM alters the way the kernel passes function arguments internally. Unless a module is compiled to match it will almost certainly fail. The module will be expecting to get arguments from the rest of the kernel on the stack, but the kernel will pass some of them in registers. Compiling the cipe kernel module with "-mregparm=3" added to the gcc arguments should make a working cipe module. Maybe somebody with a SUSE kernel could try this ... -- Dick St.Peters, stpeters@... -- Message sent by the cipe-l@... mailing list. You also have to declare each system call "asmlinkage". The declarations are in linux/syscalls.h from the source tree, However, simply including that entire .h file causes multiple compile errors. A fix of this isn't something I or any of my users need, so I'm done with this unless I stumble on some spare time someday. -- Dick St.Peters, stpeters@... -- Message sent by the cipe-l@... mailing list.
