> "Attica::Message::Parser".
>

This is typically because GCC's STL allows you to instantiate things like
Map<> with forward-declared classes but Sun's (and Apache's) STL does not. So
you get stuff like

        class p;
        Map<int,p> pmap;

The reason for this is that GCC's STL uses a p* in the implementation of Map<>
and Apache uses a full p. In other words, replace
        class p;
by
        #include <p.h>
and you're good.

Anyway. It'd be nice also if
- there was documentation on what attica *is*
- there was a release of attica that can be compiled separately before KDE 4.4
comes out
attica build is failing on OpenSolaris with the Sun Studio 12 U1
>
> Hi,
>
> I've created an account (tropikhajma@...).
> I didn't see any kde project there so I tried to create one, but after
> creating KDE-Solaris, at the step for inviting users I got

There are
"kdesupport"
"kdelibs"
"kdepimlibs"
"kdepim"
"kdebase"
"kdenetwork"
"kdeadmin"
"kdeaccesibility"
"kdeexamples"

I can see them on my.cdash.org (although the layout is somewhat messed up
today), and I think you should be able to see them too and subscribe to them.

>
> Fatal error: Cannot redeclare make_seed_recoverpass() (previously
> declared in /clients/CDash-Pro/CDashPro-head/models/proInvite.php:194)
> in /clients/CDash-Pro/CDashPro-head/models/proInvite.php on line 192
>
> after clicking the submit(?) button. And I cannot see the project there.

I can see KDE-Solaris there now. But I think it should not be necessary, the
submissions should go to the per-module projects, so that e.g. kdelibs has
(in the future) the results for Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD, OSX and maybe also
Windows.

> Anyway, in the meantime I only had a superficial look into the nightly
> script. I'm afraid we'll have to modify it a bit as the build system
> we have ATM is somehow specific.

Can you tell me more about that ?
To get the results to the dashboard, you have to run a cmake Nightly build,
and I think there is not that much what can be done differently.

> What about the other prerequisites from kdesupport, like akonadi,
> soprano, phonon, strigi?

In the script Nightlys-2.6.2 the first thing which is done is building and
installing all of kdesupport, so all that is there for the following KDE
modules.
What still has to be taken care of manually are the requirements like e.g. Qt
and other things.

> builds on non-Linux systems is actually even more important.
> I still have to document this somewhere, probably on techbase, on how to get
> my machine. If you open it, the places which have to be changed should be
> much
> more.
>
> So, if you are interested, please let me know and I'll help with setting it

> The Belenix team will ensure a run on Belenix everyday.
> I'll also co-ordinate with Hajma to see that we have a build on
> Solaris or OpenSolaris.

Hi,

I've created an account (tropikhajma@...).
I didn't see any kde project there so I tried to create one, but after
creating KDE-Solaris, at the step for inviting users I got

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare make_seed_recoverpass() (previously
declared in /clients/CDash-Pro/CDashPro-head/models/proInvite.php:194)
in /clients/CDash-Pro/CDashPro-head/models/proInvite.php on line 192

after clicking the submit(?) button. And I cannot see the project there.

Anyway, in the meantime I only had a superficial look into the nightly
script. I'm afraid we'll have to modify it a bit as the build system
we have ATM is somehow specific.

What about the other prerequisites from kdesupport, like akonadi,
soprano, phonon, strigi?

best regards

hajma

it should be something like the following:

- disable default shortcut
System Settings -> Global Keyboard Shortcuts -> Run Command Interface
-> "Lock Session" (remove the shortcut)

- enable Ctrl+Alt+L as Input Action to spawn xlock
System Settings -> Input Actions
right-click the left pane -> New -> Global Shortcut -> Command/URL

> I think that I will install Solaris 10.
> I tested Belenix and Korona 0.0.2 in two different computers. (kind of old )
> Belenix asks root password for maintence in both of them, and Korona asks
> root password too in one, and in other I cant even boot the DVD.
> Do you know if there is a limitation in terms of hardware ? ( I know about
> SSE 's instruction in Belenix).

Hi,
Korona was built with SSE2. If you CPU does not support SSE/SSE2 and
you're able to install opensolaris on that machine, you could build
the KDE packages locally. The build process should disable SSE
support then (not tested).

I have been working on getting Ksysguard to display something other
> interesting. Once I get out from the stdcxx4 migration hell I'll have
> a look at it.
> In the meantime - have you tried to contact upstream? Even if they
> would not accept the idea, they could come up with other

I have not yet found time to contact upstream. Will do that later.
> Since KDE is delivered as an integrated part of BeleniX I use all the
>

Hi,

KDE-4.1.4 is the latest version which can run on Solaris 10 (due
missing python >= 2.5, libxcb support and few others which are needed
for 4.2 and higher).Yes, you can kick off Xserver and old python and
put the new ones, but people are using S10 due its stability and
maintenance and I wouldn't recommend do this. I was trying build KDE
with minimal or zero impacts to own S10 system all the time. I have
KDE 4.1.4 on Ultra20m2 with SOL 10 U6.

When I have a time, next month or two, I can provide SVR4 packages for
S10, but without any guarantee.

Ben Taylor's 4.1.3 SVR4 are there ...
>> > Hi,
>> >
>> > I was discussing with some guys in #solaris @
>> freenode.net . They said that
>> > KDE does not run under Solaris 10, just under
>> OpenSolaris based dists. But
>> > I've read about KDE on Solaris 10, in blastwave for
>> example.
>> >
>> > Can someone clarify this to me?
>> > Thanks for any help.
>>
>> Hi,
>> AFAIK only KDE 3.4 is available for S10
>
> Date: Aug 25, 2009
>
> There are a few releases done for KDE 4 on Solaris 10. You have KDE 4.2.4 and 4.3.0 (both 32-bit and 64-bit versions). One copy is stored on the http://solaris.bionicmutton.org website built on Solaris 10 and OSOL snv_111b (aka OpenSolaris 2009.06). The merged distribution of KDE 4.3.0 and OSOL comes on Korona 0.0.2 (http://www.genunix.org/dist/korona/Korona-0.0.2.iso). Use this to help review work on KDE 4.3.x work on Solaris 10. Belenix is also releasing KDE 4 on Belenix 0.8.
>
> Recommendation Note: Only use KDE 4.3.x and higher for Solaris 10 and OpenSolaris 2009.06-based distros.
>
> Blastwave.org maintains KDE 3.5.10/Koffice 1.6.3/Amarok 1.4.10 for Solaris 8-10 and OpenSolaris-based distributions. KDE 3.4.3 is no longer used at Blastwave.org.

>> Hi,
>> AFAIK only KDE 3.4 is available for S10
>
>
>
>
AFAIK only KDE 3.4 is available for S10

You might be able to compile KDE 4.1.3 following the steps at
http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/KDE_on_Solaris, also there are some
binary packages for S10/X64 there - I don't know their status.

As regards the current KDE 4.3 on S10, I have no idea, although I know
that ade is doing some builds of the 4.3 repository on nv 115 so it
may be possible to build it with some effort.
