kplato: Calculating schedule doesn't workHi
Sorry, but there must be something fundamental in kplato I have missed. I hope someone might be able to help. I have made one resource(person), one calendar and a few tasks which are all assigned to the one resource. I then expect that when I hit the "Calculate" button that kplato would schedule the tasks so that they don't overlap (the one resource I have should only work 8 hours a day...). However this doesn't work. When I hit the "Calculate" button I instead get cryptic messages in the log like: "Could not match effort. Want 16h0m got 0h0m" "Resource vl available from 05/18/09 12:00am to 05/18/11 04:00pm" "Resource vl not available in interval: 05/18/09 12:00am to 05/18/09 04:00pm" All tasks is defined "As soon as possible", no fixed dates. Clicking on view->Resource assignments shows 0.0 in total for my resource so there might some mapping between resource and tasks I have missed ? I have attached my test project in the email( not sure it will get through to the mailing list though) I am using KOffice 2.0RC-1 from Kubuntu/Jaunty (KPlato v.0.6.99) Best regards, Vidar -- vl@... | eZ systems | ez.no ____________________________________ koffice mailing list koffice@... Re: kplato: Calculating schedule doesn't workYour resource refer to calendar 'vl' which doesn't define any working hours at all. If you define some working hours, or use the 'Base' calendar instead it should work. Mvh. Dag Andersen > Hi > > Sorry, but there must be something fundamental in kplato I have missed. Your email got me on the right track. Fixing the working hours makes the warnings/errors in the log to disappear. However, my four tasks (task1.1, task2.1,task2.2 and task2.3 ) are still scheduled in parallel (meaning that "vl" would need to work 400% in order to comply with the suggested plan while the limit is set to 100%). In View->Resource Assignments it only shows 8h a day. PS : Since you didn't CC me on the answer I had some problems answering to your email with correct reply-to headers, causing the threading to be wrong. I have now subscribed to the list so that shouldn't be a problem in the future. It seems to work here. Hmmm, did you create a new schedule or did you just recalculate the old one? If you created a new, you'll have to select the correct schedule to view in the View menu. (It should list all schedules you have calculated) Also, the schedule name is shown in the status line (bottom right). I know, this isn't fantastic, it's easy to forget/overlook, so I'm *very* open for suggestions of how to improve this! > > PS : Since you didn't CC me on the answer I had some problems answering to > your email with correct reply-to headers, causing the threading to be > wrong. I don't think this is that bad, but I do have a different suggestion: When you hit "calculate" button all trees in all views are collapsed. I suggest to add "collapse all" and "uncollapse all" buttons in all tree-views. The state of each tree-view should also not change when you press "calculate" button or do save/open. Re: kplato: Calculating schedule doesn't workThis was a real kplato bug in the rc1 release. It is definitly present in kubuntu/jaunty packages, and most likely in any other distrubution also. It will be fixed in the next release. Mvh. Dag Andersen Mandag 18 maj 2009 10:37:07 skrev Vidar Langseid: > Hi > > Sorry, but there must be something fundamental in kplato I have missed.
