The really old problem in starting io
io: error while loading shared libraries: libiovmall.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
is still present and I can confirm that in debian lenny as well. I tried io in the version stevedekorte-io-9ead08c1ef29e835a1ff43ec089cc979074a5a42

There is the last posting from Dec 22, 2008 describing this error and offering some workarounds.

Some repair might be helpful for the newcomers to io!

Regards
BB

Let me guess, you're running Linux.

You will need to perform the same procedure you'd perform installing
any library from source: Run "ldconfig" after you've done a make
install. This is a GNU LD problem, not an Io problem.
