localization problem with xref elementsDear all
the version of docbook xml is 4.4 the version of docbook xsl is 1.73.2 (these are not my choice and I dont think I can upgrade as I dont have decisional power for that) im having some problem with french translation, a string which is automatically inserted by the xsl transformation is not translated. the problem is with <xref linkend="xxx" /> I get "the section called “xxx”" instead of the "la section intitulée « xxx »" the string "the section called" appear several time in the language xml files in docbook-xsl-1.73.2 so im not sure which one is used, but the translation seems to exist for all the ids in the fr.xml I have tried adding a "lang="fr"" parameter in my <book> element and also in my <xref> element, but it didnt change anything I looked at the list archive, found some related posts but sadly no solution any idea ? Thanks in advance Best regards Oliver |

If it's caused by an outdated or incomplete French translation, then you can simply "fix" the problem in your customization layer. http://www.sagehill.net/docbookxsl/CustomGentext.html Regards, Daniel --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: docbook-apps-unsubscribe@... Re: localization problem with xref elementsHi,
It doesn't seem to be caused by an incomplete translation, as the text in common/fr.xml in 1.73.2 has the translated text. When I test an xref with <book lang="fr">, I get the translated text for the xref. A more detailed example would help. Re: localization problem with xref elementsThank you Bob, Daniel
It seems my problem was that I didnt add the lang="fr" to the main xml file. The documentation is split between many files, all merged together using <xi:include ... and I only tried to set the lang paramter to the included xml file. now I have added it to the main xml and I get correct translations for the xref string. im such a noob, im really sorry for bothering you with such issue. at least I know a little more about how translations are done and how I can customise/override elements. thank you very much best regards Oliver ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob Stayton" <bobs@...> To: "Daniel Leidert" <daniel.leidert.spam@...>; <docbook-apps@...> Sent: Wednesday, August 19, 2009 7:01 PM Subject: Re: [docbook-apps] localization problem with xref elements Hi, It doesn't seem to be caused by an incomplete translation, as the text in common/fr.xml in 1.73.2 has the translated text.
