logging out from keyboard / logout UX

Hi,

Trying to log out from the default keyboard shortcut, but it's not possible :)
See http://tinypic.com/r/29gbvc/4
Besides the Log out dialog not having a Log out button, I don't know
what Cancel does in the middle of the other choices.

See also the Win 7 ctrl+alt+del dialog
http://tinypic.com/r/w7cvn8/4
their UX is quite good this time. Could it be used as an inspiration?

Thanks,

That's because that's not the Log Out dialog, it's the Shut Down
dialog.  The Keyboard Shortcuts preferences window appears to be
binding a shortcut to the wrong function. If that hasn't been fixed in
2.28.0, please file a bug.

I guess they're just following this part of the HIG:
 >

which shows that the affirmative button ("Shut Down" in this case,
because it's the Shut Down dialog") should go to the right of the
Cancel button, and alternative actions should go to the left.

In this case, however, that doesn't really work very well.

We've certainly experimented with that sort of thing before, but I
don't recall off-hand why they've never made it into the stable release.

Cheeri,

I see how shutdown/suspend etc.. are different to log-out / switch user,
but ever since this changed, I've found it a real pain.

I'd got very used to just hitting the power button on the laptop and
getting a dialog with _all_ the options. (Not sure if this was an Ubuntu
modification or not).

I guess my muscles remember a combined "end session" dialog, where all
of the above are valid ways to end a session. Perhaps the unified dialog
was too cluttered though - was that why it was dropped? I for one miss
it!
