mac mini ppc ati radeon cannot go back to console (system freeze)

I posted this back in february, now I've tried to install 4.5, but the
problem is still there, that is, using the ati driver, once in X I
cannot go back, the system will freeze and can only switch off the
power. Symptoms are exactly as they are described here (only change
4.4 to 4.5):
