macgpg2 killed my mac again....

So you would think I'd learn, but no. I was wondering if anyone could help me completely uninstall macgpg2?

I have installed it now twice, the first time, right as the installer was finishing, my system became strangely unresponsive. I could apple-tab around, but if I went to say type ls in a terminal the command would hang. After holding the power button down the system would not come up anymore. I had to do a full reinstall of Mac OS X (a real pain in the neck on my Inspiron Mini).

So I figured what were the odds and tried it again. Same thing. My machine is now dead again. It will boot up as far as the mouse pointer appearing on the screen but then locks up tight.

I can get to single user mode though and I have been going through the installer package and manually removing everything, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? Am I alone (seems unlikely)? Also, what would cause this to happen? It reminds me of installing an incompatible glibc version in linux....

OK, so I'm not sure of the culprit, but here's how I uninstalled things in case someone stumbles upon this and needs a fix...it took a bit o' typing though....

Boot up in single user mode, follow the instructions for mounting your root filesystem.

Find your installer package, mine was in /Users/<me>/Downloads/MacGPG2-2.0.11.mpkg

Now type:

gzip -cd /Users/<you>/Downloads/MacGPG2-2.0.11.mpkg/Contents/Packages/gettext10.pkg/Contents/Archive.pax.gz | pax | more

and then go and find each one of the files (usually in the /usr/local directory) and delete them. Repeat that step for each .pkg file in the Packages folder inside MacGPG2...

It takes a few minutes and basically sucks to do but the end result is I got OS 10 to boot up again.

MacGPG2 support available from http://macgpg2.sourceforge.net

However, only genuine Macs supported - not Dell Inspiron Minis.
Suggest you install Linux instead.
