My system is CentOS5.2

Whatever I do configure, when I do a make, I get this:

make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found.  Stop.

I download memcached-1.2.5.tar.gz

Sorry to ask a dumb question, but does your configure finish successfully? And does a Makefile exist after you run configure?

If it's already installed, specify its path using --with-libevent=/dir/

Hmm, I don't know if your Makefile really got generated. There's a libevent error at the end of the configure output. I'd suggest using the --with-libevent flag with your configure.

./configure --with-libevent=/PATH/TO/LIBEVENT
