No other software other than Linux is required to
simply have it start up.

To compile your own you will require gcc, and ideally
also have bzip2, zlib and pcre installed.

Thank you all for answering, I now have a dedicated computer that runs a minimal linux and the hercules system. Wow! Running VM again, after all those years!

Which version of VM did you use? What do you intend
doing with it?

I consider Hercules to be one of the major
achievements in computer science, and it's very
clear there's been a hell of a lot of work done
on it.

Another major achievement is diff3.

These Yahoo groups are chock full of people who
have contributed a lot of stuff. I don't know of
anywhere with a higher density of talent and
dedication than right here.

There's been some shitfights along the way though.

Some of us like to stay above those though.
