mono has no target on make

mono can't find a target on make.  I'll be surprised if glib 2.4 isn't
already on this system though since it's one of the more modern systems.
Is there some command I can use to check if the package is present or if I
actually need to go get it and install it?  The README files don't read
all that well with VoiceOver under Leopard in the terminal.  I may try
browsing it with safari next.
