mp3 player search update

Hi everyone,

After hunting about for info I finally settled on a 4GB SansaClip.  Works
out of the box (with the latest firmware, as mine has) with both CentOS 4.6
and Windows XP SP3.  CentOS automounts it and files can be dragged via
Konquerer or put in via terminal (I always prefer the terminal, probably
from my DOS origins).  Songs need to have an id3 tag to be seen, which threw
me for a second when I couldn't see a song I transferred as a test until I
found a mention on the Clip forums that the Clip displays the id3 tag info
rather than file name.  Thanks to everyone for the suggestions last week.
Small, light, and with the clip I can attach it near my collar so I don't
bang it at hip level into the bench while doing experiments.

Stuart

according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SanDisk_Sansa

Firmware version 01.01.29[7], released in May 2008, enabled Ogg Vorbis
compatibility for the Sansa Clip. The 01.01.30 firmware update
improved OGG support and added FLAC support.

I haven't tried as I have no ogg files, but oggs are officially supported.
I've had two minor difficulties - m3u playlists aren't being recognized but
pla lists are (made by WMP 11) and music files written by linux are not seen
by XP and vice-versa.  The latter is a known problem and there's a simple fix
that requires editing a config file on the clip, but I can't find the webpage
that has it (should have bookmarked it the first time).  The clip itself sees
any music files written to it, regardless of the system used.
