my thinkpad w500 can not resume from suspend.

when I resume , the screen is blank black.

I can not go into terminal.

I can resume from hibernate.

what is the matter?

I use gentoo & gnome , not using compiz.

1, maybe you should try using radeon KMS (although in the early days of intel
KMS it didn't help for resume even when it was sold as a major
improvement in resume sittuation - then this improved).

2, if you use hibernate-script, use the option
UnloadAllModules yes
in /etc/hibernate/ram.conf
